Pasadena Museum of History
Exhibit

Poster design for Pasadena Museum of History’s Where History Meets the Road: Celebrating Route 66 and Colorado Boulevard, an exhibition exploring the impact of Route 66 and the evolution of roadside culture along Pasadena’s historic Colorado Boulevard.

Where history meets the road

A lively mid-century-inspired identity connecting Pasadena, Route 66 and Colorado Boulevard.

The challenge

One visual system needed to celebrate Pasadena’s birthday, the Route 66 centennial and the 150th anniversary of Colorado Boulevard.

The approach

Beth created an optimistic travel-poster-inspired identity. Strong color, graphic shape and flexible lockups gave the museum a memorable system that could scale across invitations, advertising, banners and day-of materials.

The result

The identity gives a complex historical program one clear, inviting expression and a practical toolkit for promoting the exhibit and its public events.

Role

Identity concept, art direction and campaign design.
